Hengaw – Thursday, June 12, 2025

Intelligence forces have arrested six Kurdish religious activists in the city of Marivan over the past several weeks. Their current whereabouts and legal status remain unknown.

According to reports received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Monday, June 9, 2025, two fathers and religious activists — Zanyar Aftabi and Aso Amini — were violently arrested at their homes in Marivan by intelligence agents and taken to an undisclosed location. As of three days after their arrest, there is still no information about their condition or location.

Sources familiar with the case reported that the arrests were carried out without arrest warrants. Security forces raided the homes, filmed the operation, and created an atmosphere of fear and intimidation.

In a separate case, four other Kurdish religious activists — Zana Karimzadeh, Wria Sajadi, Qane Dastafkan, and his brother Abdolbaset Dastafkan — were arrested approximately one month ago. Their fate also remains unknown.

Iranian authorities have not issued any formal charges or disclosed the reasons behind the arrests.
