Gilan Province: Five Women Activists Collectively Sentenced To More Than 20 Years in Prison

Anahita Dostdar, Nina Golestani, Rozita Rajaee, Anahita Hejazi, and Nagin Edaltakhah, five women activists from Gilan involved in media and environmental fields, have been collectively sentenced to over 20 years and 7 months in prison by the Iranian judiciary.

According to the report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Anahita Dostdar, Nina Golestani, Rosita Rajaei, Anahita Hejazi, and Nagin Edaltakhah have each been sentenced to 3 years, 6 months, and one day in prison for "Assembly and Collusion" and an additional 7 months and 16 days for "Propaganda Against the Regime."

The verdicts were handed down by Judge Mehdi Raskhi of the Third Branch of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Court in Rasht and have been officially communicated to the individuals involved.

Author Rozita Rajaei, Anahita Hijazi, the manager of Anna Animal Safe House in Rasht, along with three others, were arrested by Iranian security forces on Saturday, November 11, 2023. They were subsequently released from Lakan Rasht Prison after a brief detention.
