Mahmoud Sadeghi, a Kurdish political prisoner from Kamyaran and brother-in-law of Heidar Ghorbani, a Kurdish political prisoner who was executed on December 19, 2021, has been imprisoned for nearly 8 years and remains deprived of his basic rights.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Mahmoud Sadeghi has spent 2,905 consecutive days in detention, and the status of his case remains unresolved due to the intrusion of the security agencies of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Sources indicate that, with only three weeks remaining until the end of his eighth year in prison, Sadeghi's eligibility for leave remains uncertain due to the deliberate refusal to consolidate two separate prison sentences.

Hengaw has learned that Sadeghi has repeatedly requested a transfer to Kamyaran Prison, but due to obstructions by security agencies through prison authorities, he has been deprived of this basic right.

In early March 2020, Mahmoud Sadeghi was sentenced by Branch 1 of the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Saeedi, to 25 years of imprisonment on charges of "assisting in rebellion."

In October 2019, he was sentenced to 30 years in prison by Branch 1 of the Kurdistan Provincial Criminal Court (Sanandaj) on charges of "assisting in murder and collaborating with the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan."

This Kurdish individual was arrested on October 16, 2016, along with his brother-in-law, Heidar Ghorbani, the executed political prisoner, at his private residence.

After his arrest, Mahmoud Sadeghi was held for three months in the Sanandaj Intelligence Detention Center, where he endured psychological and physical pressure before being transferred to Kamyaran Prison. After five months, he was transferred to Sanandaj Central Prison, where he remains to this day.
