Omid Ahmadnejad, a Kurdish Singer, Arrested by Iranian Security Forces

Omid Ahmadnejad, a Kurdish singer from Mahabad, was arrested by Iranian security forces, coinciding with the detention of several members of justice-seeking families in the city.


According to a report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on the morning of September 3, 2024, Omid Ahmadnejad, 35 years old, was arrested at his residence during a raid by Iranian Intelligence Forces in the village of "Qajiabad" in Mahabad.
 
Hengaw sources indicate that the Iranian security forces resorted to violence during the arrest of the singer and subsequently transferred him to an undisclosed location.

As of now, there is no detailed information available regarding the reasons for his arrest, the charges against him, or his current whereabouts.

At the same time, Ramiyar Abubakri, 16 years old, and Siavash Soltani, members of justice-seeking families from the "Women, Life, Freedom" movement, have been arrested by Iranian Intelligence Forces. The number of detainees may potentially increase.
