Intelligence forces arrest Kurdish singer Amir Sobhani in Javanrud

Amir Sobhani, a Kurdish singer from Javanrud (Jwanro), has been arrested by Iranian intelligence forces and transferred to Dizel Abad Prison in Kermanshah. He has previously faced detention by Iranian authorities over his artistic and cultural activities.

According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Sobhani was arrested in Javanrud on Monday, May 18, 2026, and later taken to Kermanshah Central Prison after undergoing initial interrogation and being formally notified of preliminary charges.

Sources familiar with the case said intelligence agents raided Sobhani’s family home without presenting a warrant before arresting him and searching the residence. He was subsequently transferred to the quarantine ward of Kermanshah Central Prison, commonly known as Dizel Abad Prison, under a 10-day temporary detention order.

The reasons for his arrest and the charges against him remain unknown.

Amir Sobhani has previously been arrested at least twice in connection with his artistic and cultural activities.
