Hengaw: Saturday, November 16, 2024
Zahra Rezaei, a political activist, was arrested and transferred to Qarchak Varamin prison after being summoned to the Sentence Enforcement Branch at Evin Prosecutor's Office to begin serving her 14-month prison sentence.
According to a report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Saturday, November 16, 2024, Zahra Rezaei was arrested at Evin Prison’s quarantine section before being moved to Qarchak Varamin prison. This prison does not have a section designated for political prisoners, meaning she must serve her sentence in a ward for common crimes.
Recently, Zahra Rezaei was sentenced to 14 months of imprisonment and a fine of 30 million toman by Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Iman Afshari, on charges of “propaganda against the state,” “insulting Khamenei,” “wearing clothing of their choice in public spaces,” and “disturbing public opinion.”
Approximately three months ago, she was summoned by the IRGC Intelligence, interrogated, and released after posting a bail of 19 billion tomans following the formation of a judicial case against her.
