Hengaw: Thursday, January 16, 2025

Idris Haji Rasulpour, a resident of Bukan, a member of the justice-seeking families, and the brother of Mohammad Haji Rasulpour—one of the victims of the “Woman, Life, Freedom” movement—was arrested and transferred to prison to serve his sentence.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Thursday, January 16, 2025, Idris Haji Rasulpour, a resident of the village of “Alikand” near Bukan, was arrested and transferred to Bukan Central Prison to serve a three-month prison sentence.

Idris Haji Rasulpour had previously been sentenced to three months of imprisonment by Branch 101 of the Bukan Criminal Court for the charge of “propaganda against the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

He had been arrested on May 10, 2024, during a raid by security forces on his family home due to his participation in special Newroz ceremonies in Kurdistan.

After being held for some time, Idris Haji Rasulpour was eventually released on bail, pending his trial.

Mohammad Haji Rasulpour, a 57-year-old former political prisoner and resident of Bukan, passed away on Monday, December 19, 2022, at Qolipour Hospital in Bukan. His death followed five days in a coma, which was the result of torture endured in security detention centers.

At the time, Hengaw reported that “security forces not only subjected him to severe torture but also deprived him of water for three weeks, which led to his coma.”
