Arab author Saeed Esmaeel arrested by security forces in Ahvaz

Saeed Esmaeel, an Arab author and researcher from Ahvaz, the capital of Khuzestan Province, has been arrested by security forces of Islamic Republic of Iran.
According to reports received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Saeed Esmaeel was arrested on Monday, January 6, 2025, during a raid on his home in Ahvaz. Security forces confiscated several personal belongings, including his computer and mobile phone.
He was subsequently transferred to an unknown location, and no information has been provided regarding the charges or the reasons for his detention.
Concerns about Saeed Esmaeel’s health have been raised, as he suffers from chronic kidney disease. The lack of access to appropriate medical care in detention further exacerbates these concerns.
Saeed Esmaeel is an accomplished author and researcher who has published several books. In addition to his literary work, he has served as the editor of the Arabic section of Nawabet magazine and has conducted extensive research on Arab culture.
