Three Sunni Arab brothers arrested by IRGC Intelligence in Shadegan, whereabouts unknown

Three Sunni Arab brothers from Shadegan (Fallahiyeh) in Khuzestan province have been arrested by the Intelligence Organization of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and taken to an undisclosed location. They have been identified as Jihad Shaverdi, 40, Bagher Shaverdi, 28, and Fouad Shaverdi, 26.

According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, IRGC Intelligence forces raided the Shaverdi family home in Shadegan in the early hours of August 9, 2026, and arrested the three men.

Sources familiar with the case said all three men, who are married, were arrested without the presentation of a warrant and subsequently transferred to an undisclosed location.

The three are Sunni Muslims and have previously been arrested and sentenced to prison in connection with their religious activities and beliefs.

No information was available regarding the reasons for their arrest, the charges against them or their place of detention. Their family’s efforts to obtain information about their whereabouts and condition have so far been unsuccessful.
