Kurdish civil activist, Hersh Zandi Navgaran arrested by security forces in Sanandaj

Hersh Zandi Navgaran, a Kurdish civil activist and former political prisoner from Sanandaj (Sine), was arrested by security forces during a raid on his home. He was subsequently transferred to the Intelligence Office in the city.

According to reports received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, despite the passage of four days since his detention, no information has been disclosed about Zandi’s condition, whereabouts, or the reasons for his arrest. Zandi, a 40-year-old resident of Sanandaj, has a history of political imprisonment, having served time in the 2000s for his affiliation with the Komala Party of Iranian Kurdistan.

The security forces carried out the arrest on Monday, January 20, 2025, without providing an arrest warrant. Efforts by his family to obtain updates about his situation have been met with silence from the authorities.

As of the time of this report, officials have not provided any details regarding the charges, circumstances of his detention, or his current condition.
