Death row prisoner dies following cardiac arrest in Karaj

A death row prisoner, identified only as Behnam (last name unknown), has died of cardiac arrest while detained in Ghezel Hesar Prison, Karaj.

According to reports received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Behnam, a death row inmate from Tehran, suffered a heart attack on Monday, January 6, 2025, and passed away in custody.

Behnam had been arrested in 2022 for murdering his father in the Khazaneh neighborhood of Tehran. Following his arrest, he was convicted and sentenced to death by the Tehran Criminal Court.
