Hassan Saedi, a 34-year-old Arab civil activist from Ahvaz (Khuzestan province), was killed under torture at a detention facility operated by the Ministry of Intelligence of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Ahvaz.

According to information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Saedi, a father of two, died on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, as a result of severe torture while in custody at the Intelligence Ministry’s detention center in Ahvaz.

The Karun Human Rights Organization reported that shortly after his death, officials from the Intelligence Department in Ahvaz contacted Saedi’s family by phone, falsely claiming that he had died of a “heart attack.”

Saedi’s family has rejected the authorities’ claim, stressing that he was in good health prior to his arrest and had no preexisting medical conditions.

Saedi was violently arrested at his home by security forces, who confiscated his and his family members’ mobile phones during the raid carried out on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.
