10 Prisoners executed in various prisons across Iran

In recent days, the death sentences of ten prisoners, identified as Omid Besharatlou, Javad Jaberi, Saeed Diani, Karim Faridi, Ahmad Sasouli, Aref Azizi, Gholamreza Seyed Mohammadkhani, Bahram Valipour, Hossein Farhadi, and one unidentified prisoner, have been carried out in prisons across Iran. These prisoners were charged with drug-related offenses and premeditated murder. The executions took place in Ghezel Hesar (Karaj), Zanjan, Isfahan, Vakilabad (Mashhad), Saveh, Yazd, and Gorgan prisons.
According to reports received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on the morning of Wednesday, January 22, 2025, two prisoners, Omid Besharatlou, from Tehran, and Javad Jaberi, from Boumehen in Pardis County, Tehran Province, were executed in Ghezel Hesar Prison, Karaj, on charges of premeditated murder.
Another execution was carried out in Yazd Central Prison for Ahmad Sasouli, a 28-year-old married man and father from Gholamali Sasouli village in Zabol. He had been convicted of drug-related charges five years ago. Notably, his execution took place without prior notification to his family or granting them the right to a final visit.
According to the state-run Mizan news agency, a prisoner convicted of premeditated murder for deliberately running over a police commander in Zarandieh in June 2023 was executed in Saveh Prison this morning. The identity of this prisoner remains under investigation.
On Tuesday, January 21, 2025, Karim Faridi, a 40-year-old resident of Zanjan, who had been in custody for four years on charges of premeditated murder, was executed in Zanjan Central Prison. That same day, Saeed Diani, a 38-year-old married man with two children from Isfahan, was executed in Isfahan Central Prison on drug-related charges.
On Monday, January 20, 2025, two prisoners, Gholamreza Seyed Mohammadkhani and Aref Azizi, both from Mashhad, were executed in Vakilabad Prison, Mashhad. Both had been convicted of premeditated murder.
On Sunday, January 19, 2025, Bahram Valipour, 38, and Hossein Farhadi, 35, both from Gorgan, were executed in Gorgan Central Prison, Golestan Province. Bahram Valipour had been convicted two years ago and Hossein Farhadi approximately four years ago, both on separate drug-related charges.
Of the ten executions, only one case has been officially announced in state media. The execution of the remaining nine prisoners has not been reported in any government outlets, including judiciary-affiliated news sources.
