Two prisoners executed in separate cases

Abdolghaffar Shahnavazi and Ali Aqahasani were executed in separate cases at Mashhad Central Prison (Vakilabad) and Maragheh Central Prison after being sentenced to death on charges of “drug-related offenses” and “premeditated murder.”
Information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights shows that Ali Aqahasani, a 38-year-old Turkish prisoner from Abhar in Zanjan Province, was executed in the early hours of Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Maragheh Central Prison.
Aqahasani was married and the father of one child. He had been arrested two years earlier on a charge of “premeditated murder” and was later sentenced to death.
In a separate case, Abdolghaffar Shahnavazi, a 38-year-old Baloch prisoner from Salehabad in Torbat-e Jam County, was executed at Mashhad Central Prison (Vakilabad) on April 20, 2026.
Shahnavazi had been arrested three years earlier on charges related to “drug offenses” and was subsequently sentenced to death.
The executions have not been announced by Iranian state media, particularly outlets affiliated with the Iranian Judiciary.
