Iran executes two prisoners in separate cases in Ardabil and Khorramabad

Iranian authorities have executed two prisoners, Mahmoud Nourani Gargari, and Firouz Mohammadi, in separate cases in Ardabil and Khorramabad, according to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights.

Mahmoud Nourani Gargari, 31, a Turkish man from Ardabil, was executed on March 1, 2026, in Ardabil Central Prison. He had been sentenced to death on a charge of murder and was the father of a young child.

In a separate case, Firouz Mohammadi, 46, a Lor man from Khorramabad, was executed on Feb. 8, 2026, in Khorramabad Central Prison, also known as Parsilon Prison.

Mohammadi had been arrested about three years ago in connection with a fatal altercation over financial disputes and was later sentenced to death on a charge of premeditated murder.

Both executions were carried out without public announcement by state media or official judiciary-affiliated sources.
