Arrests of shop owners participated in Kurdistan Strike against death sentences continue: Three more arrested in Qorveh and Sanandaj

Three Kurds from the cities of Qorveh and Sanandaj (Sine), including two brothers named Zahid Khaledian, Vahed Khaledian, and Kamal Akherati, were arrested by the Islamic Republic of Iran’s security forces for participating in the Kurdistan strike. The strike was held to protest the execution sentences of Pakhshan Azizi and Varisheh Moradi. The detainees have been transferred to an undisclosed location. With these arrests, the total number of arrests related to the strike on January 22 has risen to twelve.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Thursday, January 23, 2025, two brothers from Qorveh—Zahid Khaledian, 35, and Vahed Khaledian, 32—were arrested at their mobile phone shop in Ettehad Square and taken to an unknown location.

Additionally, on the same day, Kamal Akherati, a resident of Sanandaj, was arrested at his workplace by plainclothes agents from the Ministry of Intelligence without being presented with an arrest warrant and was also transferred to an undisclosed location.

According to informed sources, the families of these three people have so far been unable to obtain any information about their fate or current status despite their efforts.

So far, there is no precise information available regarding the reasons for the arrests, the charges brought against them, their place of detention, or their current condition.
