Artist Hiwa Seifizadeh arrested while performing in Tehran

Hiwa Seifizadeh, an actress, singer, and classical music instructor, was arrested by forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran while performing at a venue in Tehran and was taken to an undisclosed location.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on the evening of Thursday, February 27, 2025, the 27-year-old singer was arrested at “Emarat Ruberu” in Tehran.

Details from the published report indicate that government forces entered the venue during her performance with her musical group and arrested her.

The arrest of this artist and her accompanying group took place despite the concert having received official authorization. However, attendees were simultaneously prohibited from filming the event.

It is worth noting that Hiwa Seifizadeh had previously expressed support for protesters during the “Jin, Jiyan, Azadi” (Woman, Life, Freedom) movement by releasing songs in solidarity with the movement while appearing without the mandatory hijab.

She is a singer, classical music instructor, and tombak player, as well as an experienced theater actress.
