Teacher Masoumeh Asgari sentenced to three years in Evin Prison

Masoumeh Asgari, a retired teacher currently imprisoned in Evin Prison, has been sentenced by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to three years of imprisonment.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Masoumeh Asgari, a 55-year-old political prisoner, was recently sentenced by Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Iman Afshari. She received a three-year prison sentence on charges of "propaganda through collaboration with anti-regime groups" and "membership in opposition groups." The court's verdict has been officially communicated to her.
Asgari was arrested by intelligence forces in August 2024 and spent two months in solitary confinement in Ward 209, the Ministry of Intelligence detention center at Evin Prison. On September 25, 2024, she was transferred to the prison’s women’s ward.
Informed sources have reported that Masoumeh Asgari suffers from multiple health conditions, including diabetes, kidney and liver issues, as well as neurological complications.
Masoumeh Asgari, who is retired and head of her household with one child, has previously been arrested and sentenced for her civil activities.
