Mohammad Ali Azari, a Kurdish man from Urmia, was forcibly arrested by agents of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Intelligence Agency for his role in organizing Newroz festivities in the city.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at approximately 7:00 a.m. on Friday, March 28, 2025, Mohammad Ali Azari—a married resident of Urmia—was detained with excessive force by Intelligence agents.

Sources confirmed that his arrest was directly related to his participation in the Newroz festivities held in Urmia.

Following his detention, Azari was transferred to an undisclosed location. As of the time of this report, no verified information is available regarding his whereabouts or condition.
