Kurdish prisoner killed in violent inmate clash in Ghezel Hesar Prison

Hengaw: Saturday, March 8, 2025
A Kurdish prisoner from Kermanshah (Kermashan), identified as Arsalan Salari, was killed during a violent altercation between inmates at Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj, Alborz province.
According to a report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at 3:00 AM on Saturday, March 8, 2025, 30-year-old Arsalan Salari was fatally stabbed during a fight in Ward 17, Unit 2 of the prison. A reliable source told Hengaw that Salari had been imprisoned for the past four years on drug-related charges.
Hengaw has repeatedly warned about the lack of safety in Iranian prisons. Investigations confirm that in addition to a thriving drug trade inside prisons, bladed weapons are routinely smuggled in under the supervision and financial involvement of prison authorities.
