Hadi Rezaei dies by suicide in Ghezel Hesar Prison

A prisoner identified as Hadi Rezaei, from Kuhdasht in Lorestan Province, has died by suicide in Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj after swallowing narcotic substances.

According to information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Rezaei died on Thursday, November 6, 2025, after ingesting methamphetamine inside the prison.

He had attempted suicide the previous day in Ward 3 of Ghezel Hesar Prison and was transferred to a medical facility, but later succumbed to his condition.

Rezaei had been arrested three years earlier on charges of “armed robbery” and was subsequently sentenced to death by the Iranian judiciary.
