Kurdish women's rights activist Soma Mohammadrezaei arrested in Sanandaj

Soma Mohammadrezaei, a Kurdish women’s rights activist in Sanandaj (Sine), has been arrested by Intelligence Department forces and transferred to an undisclosed location. Her detention marks the second arrest of a female activist in Sanandaj today.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, late on Monday, March 10, 2025, 38-year-old Soma Mohammadrezaei was arrested at her workplace in Almas Shopping Center, Sanandaj.
A reliable source confirmed that Intelligence Department forces arrested her without presenting an arrest warrant and transferred her to an undisclosed location.
Her arrest is linked to her participation in a recent event in Sanandaj commemorating International Women’s Day.
Additionally, earlier today, another civil activist, Baran Saeidi, was also arrested at her home by Intelligence Department forces, without a warrant and under coercive circumstances.
