Newroz celebrations in Kurdistan: Karwan Dafei arrested by security forces in Marivan

Karwan Dafei, a young Kurdish man from Marivan, was arrested by intelligence forces in connection with the Newroz celebrations in the city. He has been transferred to an unknown location.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Sunday, March 23, 2025, Karwan Dafei, a 25-year-old director and playwright from Marivan, was detained by intelligence forces on one of the city’s streets.

An informed source confirmed that his arrest is directly related to this year’s Newroz celebrations in Kurdistan. Since his detention, his family has made multiple attempts to obtain information about his condition and whereabouts, but authorities have provided no response.

So far, no precise information is available regarding the reasons for his arrest, or the charges against him.
