Newroz Celebrations in Kurdistan: Three arrested by security forces in Sanandaj

Three Kurds from the village of Avihang in the Kalatarzan district of Sanandaj, identified as Shirvan Heydari, Edris Heydari, and Sirvan Hatami, have been arrested by security forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran in connection with the Newroz celebrations in Kurdistan.

According to a report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Sunday, March 23, 2025, Shirvan Heydari (37), Edris Heydari (30), and Sirvan Hatami (40), all residents of Avihang village in the Kalatarzan district of Sanandaj, were arrested by security forces and taken to an unknown location.

Sources familiar with the matter stated that the arrests were linked to the Newroz celebrations in Kurdistan, and the families’ efforts to obtain information about their fate and condition have so far been unsuccessful.

As of the time of this report, no precise information is available regarding the reasons for their arrest, or the charges against them.
