Poet Faramarz Sadehi sentenced to 22 months in prison in Mahshahr

Faramarz Sadehi, a poet and member of the Iranian Writers’ Association (IWA), from Behbahan, has been sentenced to 22 months and 15 days in prison by the Revolutionary Court in Mahshahr.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the sentence was issued on Sunday, April 13, 2025, by Branch 1 of the Mahshahr Revolutionary Court. Sadehi was convicted on charges of “propaganda against the state” and “insulting the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
He was initially charged on February 18, 2025, by Branch 2 of the Prosecutor’s Office in Behbahan and later released on bail.
Sadehi had previously been arrested on January 10, 2025, following a raid on his home by intelligence agents from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). He was held in custody for several hours before being released.
