Kurdish prisoner Moradbeyg Zarei dies after violent clash in Hamadan Prison

Moradbeyg Zarei, a Kurdish prisoner serving a sentence for drug-related charges at Hamadan Prison, has died after sustaining severe injuries during a violent clash inside the facility.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the incident occurred on Tuesday, June 24, 2025. Zarei, a native of Harsin in Kermanshah Province (Kermashan), was fatally wounded during a confrontation involving the use of a sharp metal object.

Zarei had been imprisoned for two years at the time of the incident. He was transferred to a hospital after the attack but died shortly afterward due to the severity of his injuries.
