Mahabad: Three Kurdish men arrested by Intelligence forces, held incommunicado

Three Kurdish men from Mahabad, Rebwar Mostafazadeh, Hejar Asadpour, and Keyvan Ashtab, have been arrested by agents of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Intelligence Ministry and transferred to undisclosed locations. Their current status and whereabouts remain unknown.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Monday, June 23, 2025, Mostafazadeh, 41, a football coach in Mahabad, was arrested by intelligence agents and taken to an unknown location. Five days after his detention, no information has been released regarding his condition or legal status.

On Friday, June 20, 2025, Asadpour, 27, an employee of the Iranian Red Crescent Society, was arrested at his workplace, the Darlak roadside emergency station. He was taken by plainclothes agents believed to be affiliated with the Intelligence Ministry.

That same day, Ashtab, 29, an emergency medical technician at Mahabad Hospital, was also detained by security forces while on duty at the hospital.

All three men were arrested without the presentation of arrest warrants and have been denied contact with their families and access to legal representation.

No official information has been provided regarding the reasons for their arrests, the charges brought against them, or their place of detention.
