Hengaw - Wednesday, June 11, 2025

Mojahed Korkor (also known as Abbas), an Lor defendant in the case of Kian Pirfalak—the 10-year-old boy killed by direct government gunfire during the Women, Life, Freedom (Jin, Jiyan, Azadi) movement—was executed on what would have been the child’s birthday.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, in the early hours of Wednesday, June 11, 2025, Korkor, a Lor native of Izeh in Khuzestan Province and one of the detainees from the Women, Life, Freedom movement, was executed after 904 days of imprisonment in Sheiban Prison, Ahvaz. During his detention, Korkor endured severe torture and was denied access to legal counsel. Government-affiliated news agencies, including Daneshjoo News Agency, have confirmed this execution.

The day before, social media circulated news about Korkor’s last meeting with his family. Hengaw has learned that earlier this year, in May, the Supreme Court rejected Korkor’s appeal.

Hengaw Organization for Human Rights strongly condemns the execution of Mojahed Korkor and warns of a new wave of executions in Iran. According to Hengaw statistics, at least 582 prisoners, including 19 political, religious, and security inmates, have been executed in Iranian prisons during the first 161 days of 2025.

In April 2023, Korkor was sentenced to death by Branch One of the Ahvaz Revolutionary Court on charges of "waging war against God" and "corruption on earth." This sentence was confirmed and officially communicated to his family by Branch 39 of the Supreme Court on December 24, 2023.

In December 2024, the Supreme Court overturned the ruling and sent the case for re-examination to a court of equal rank. Ultimately, in January 2025, Korkor was sentenced to death again by Branch Three of the Ahvaz Revolutionary Court.

On December 20, 2022, Korkor was injured and arrested during an armed raid by Revolutionary Guard forces on the village of Persurakh near Izeh. During the raid, two other protesters, Mahmoud Ahmadi and Hossein Saeedi, were killed.

Earlier, Iran’s judiciary accused Abbas Korkor, Bahman Bahmani, Hossein Saeedi, Mahmoud Ahmadi, and others of involvement in the killing of seven Izeh residents during the events of November 16, 2022. In January 2023, the public prosecutor of Izeh announced that judicial cases were filed against 70 protestors from the city related to the demonstrations.

Authorities and state media previously tried to link Korkor to the killing of Kian Pirfalak. However, Kian’s mother, Mahmoonir Molaeirad, stated at her son’s funeral that it was security forces who fired at their vehicle while crossing the street, causing Kian’s death and severe injuries to his father. She later emphasized: “As Kian’s mother, I will never accept anyone from my fellow citizens being named as the killer.”
