Iranian military personnel killed in armed clash in Baneh

Hengaw – Tuesday, July 22, 2025
Sina Satarvand, a member of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Border Guard Unit stationed in Baneh, was killed during an armed clash in the border areas of the city.
According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on the evening of Monday, July 21, 2025, Satarvand, 22, a native of Darehshahr and a member of the Baneh Border Guard Unit, was shot dead during an exchange of fire.
The clash took place near the Sartazan tower of the Nanour border post in Baneh and lasted for nearly an hour.
No Kurdish party has claimed responsibility for the attack. However, Hengaw sources have indicated that the clash was carried out by forces affiliated with the Kurdistan Free Life Party (PJAK).
The incident comes just days after a PJAK member, Omid Hosseini—also known as “Smko Kobani” and a native of Kamyaran—was killed in a drone strike by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on Saturday, July 19, 2025, near the Penjwen border area in the Kurdistan Region.
