Actress and filmmaker Mina Mashhadi Mahdi detained by Intelligence Forces in Tehran, whereabouts unknown

Mina Mashhadi Mahdi, an actress, editor, and filmmaker, has been detained by agents of the Islamic Republic’s Ministry of Intelligence in Tehran. Three days after her arrest, no information has been released about her condition or whereabouts.
According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Mashhadi Mahdi, 46, originally from Yazd and residing in Tehran, was arrested on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. Her detention was carried out without formal charges being disclosed, and she has since been held incommunicado.
Her husband, Hassan Naqqashi, wrote in a personal post on Wednesday, July 23, that intelligence agents had promised her release by the end of the day. However, as of now, she has not returned home and no updates have been provided.
Mina Mashhadi Mahdi is an award-winning documentarian, film editor, and actress. Her portfolio includes works such as Desert of Belief, Vayu, Nou, Jalaluddin, Delusion, Where the Wind Blows, Manchester Cargo, and Gosan.
