Kurdish father Alikhan Zamani fatally shot by state forces in Ilam

Alikhan Zamani, a Kurdish man from Ilam, was shot dead by officers from Police Station No. 14 at his family residence. His brother, Mohsen zamani, who was wounded by gunfire during the incident, fled the scene and is currently in hiding at an undisclosed location.

According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the incident occurred on the morning of Wednesday, July 30, 2025. Alikhan Zamani, 46, from the village of Haft Cheshmeh (Heft Kani) in Ilam’s Central District, was fatally shot in the abdomen by officers from Police Station No. 14. He was married and the father of two children.

A reliable source stated that the officers had arrived at the family home in an armed operation to arrest Mohsen Zamani. During the raid, Mohsen was shot and injured but managed to escape. His brother Alikhan was killed on the spot after being shot at close range.

According to eyewitnesses at the scene, the officer who fired the fatal shot was identified as Ebrahim Bagheri, the head of Police Station No. 14 in Ilam.

Following the killing, residents of Haft Cheshmeh confronted the government forces. After firing on the protesters, the officers ultimately fled the area.
