One kolbar shot by Iranian border forces, another injured by landmine near Baneh

A Kurdish kolbar, Goran Khedri, was seriously wounded after being shot by Iranian Border Regiment forces, while another, Bakhtiar Amini, was seriously injured in a landmine explosion in two separate incidents in the Hangeh Jal border area near Baneh. Both were transferred to hospital for treatment.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Goran Khedri, a married kolbar and father of one daughter from the village of Neyzerud in Baneh County, was shot by Iranian Border Regiment forces while working in the Hangeh Jal border area at around 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 4, 2026. He was seriously wounded in the thigh and transferred to Salahaddin Ayyubi Hospital in Baneh for treatment.

In a separate incident, Bakhtiar Amini, a married kolbar and father of three from the village of Dosineh in Baneh County, was seriously injured in the leg after stepping on a landmine left over from the eight-year Iran-Iraq War while working as a kolbar in the Hangeh Jal border area on Wednesday, August 5, 2026. He is receiving treatment at Salahaddin Ayyubi Hospital in Baneh.
