Armed IRGC member killed in attack at family home in Sarvabad

Mohammadali Rahimzadeh, also known as Mohammadali Aref, a Jash and veteran armed member of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), was killed in an armed attack on his family home in Sarpir village, Sarvabad County.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, an unidentified armed group attacked Rahimzadeh’s family home in Sarpir village at around 2:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2026, killing him at the scene.

Jash refers to members of local Kurdish auxiliary forces aligned with the IRGC who cooperate with Iranian security forces.

Rahimzadeh, a resident of Sarpir village, was a longtime armed member of the IRGC. Local sources described him as an influential collaborator with Iranian security agencies who had played a significant role in the suppression of Kurdish activists and residents in the Sarvabad area in recent years.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack. However, sources told Hengaw that the operation was carried out by forces affiliated with the Free Life Party of Kurdistan (PJAK).

Media outlets affiliated with the IRGC have not reported the incident.
