Lor man Abbas Zangeneh-Nejadi sentenced to one year in prison

Iranian judicial authorities have sentenced Abbas Zangeneh-Nejadi, a Lor man from Ramhormoz in Khuzestan Province, to one year in prison.

According to information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the Second Branch of the Ahvaz Revolutionary Court recently handed down the sentence on charges of “propaganda against the state.” The ruling has been suspended for two years.

Zangeneh-Nejadi was acquitted of separate charges of “membership in an armed group” and “collaboration with hostile states.” His trial was held in May 2025 at the Second Branch of the Ahvaz Revolutionary Court.

He was originally arrested in March 2024 and released on bail after spending about 50 days in detention.
