Hengaw - Wednesday, July 8, 2026

Iranian authorities arrested Lor psychologist and counselor Seyedahmad Seyedabdollahi in Borujen and transferred him to prison to begin serving his prison sentence.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Seyedabdollahi appeared before the Enforcement of Criminal Judgments Office at the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor's Office in Borujen, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province, on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, after receiving a summons. Authorities arrested him upon his arrival and transferred him to Borujen Central Prison. After credit for time previously spent in detention, he is required to serve the remaining five months and seven days of his discretionary prison sentence.

The Revolutionary Court of Borujen sentenced him in March 2026 to seven months of discretionary imprisonment, including credit for time already served, and imposed a five-year ban on access to public and social services on charges of "undertaking media activities against national security." A source familiar with the case told Hengaw that the charges stemmed from a video message he recorded in English addressing the President of the United States and sent to a media outlet based outside Iran.

The IRGC Intelligence Organization had previously arrested Seyedabdollahi in January 2026. He spent 32 days in solitary confinement in Borujen before being transferred to Isfahan, where he underwent two weeks of interrogation. Authorities later released him temporarily on bail of 18 billion tomans pending the conclusion of judicial proceedings.

Iranian security forces arrested Seyedabdollahi again at his home in late May 2026. Following several weeks of interrogation, authorities released him on July 4, 2026, after he posted bail of 3.5 billion tomans. In that separate case, Seyedabdollahi has been charged with "propaganda against the state," and the case remains at the investigative stage.
