Shahriar – arrest of Yazdan Khazaei, brother of Erfan Khazaei killed in Women, Life, Freedom protests

Yazdan Khazaei, a Kurdish man and brother of Erfan Khazaei—one of those killed during the Women, Life, Freedom (Jin, Jiyan, Azadi) protests—was arrested and taken to an undisclosed location after being summoned by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Saturday, August 9, 2025, Yazdan Khazaei, a member of the Justice-Seeking Families, was summoned to the Revolutionary Court in Shahriar County and arrested.

As of this report, no details have been released regarding the reasons for his arrest or the charges against him.

On September 10, 2023, Yazdan Khazaei, along with his father, Hatem Khazaei, his brother, Ehsan Khazaei, and his brother’s wife, Neda Kargar, was summoned and threatened by the Shahriar Intelligence Office in Tehran Province.

Earlier this year, on July 13, Ehsan Khazaei and Neda Kargar were arrested by the Shahriar Intelligence Office. Neda Kargar was released after several hours, while Ehsan Khazaei was temporarily released on bail on July 28.

Erfan Khazaei, a 30-year-old Kurdish man, was shot and killed by government forces on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, during the Women, Life, Freedom protests in Shahriar, Tehran Province.
