Afghan couple killed by IRGC-planted landmine in Saravan border region

An Afghan couple was killed in the border area of Kaleh Gerand in Saravan County, Sistan and Baluchestan Province, after a landmine planted by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) exploded. Hengaw is still working to confirm their identities.
According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Monday, September 22, 2025, the couple was killed when the mine exploded in the Kaleh Gerand border area of Saravan.
They died instantly, with no warning signs marking the mined area.
Hengaw documented at least 17 Afghan citizens killed by landmine explosions and remnants of war munitions across Iran in 2024.
