Iranian judiciary sentences Kurdish man Farhad Karimi to six months in prison

The judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran has sentenced Farhad Karimi (Canada), a Kurdish man from Naqadeh (Naghada), to six months in prison.

According to information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Branch 103 of the Naqadeh Criminal Court, presided over by Judge Hejazi, convicted Karimi on charges of “collaborating with the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan.”

Karimi was arrested on June 24, 2025, in Naqadeh along with several other individuals by Iranian security forces. Following his arrest, he was transferred to the detention facility of the Intelligence Department in Urmia and later moved to Naqadeh Central Prison after interrogation.

After 49 days in custody, he was released on bail on August 12, 2025, pending the outcome of judicial proceedings.
