Amirhossein Fallahi sentenced to 18 months in prison over January protests

Iranian authorities have sentenced Amirhossein Fallahi, a 19-year-old Kurdish man from Kuhdasht in Lorestan Province who was arrested during the January 2026 protests, to 18 months in prison.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, a Revolutionary Court in Kuhdasht initially sentenced Fallahi to five years in prison and two years of internal exile in Jask, Hormozgan Province. The sentence was later reduced on appeal to 18 months' imprisonment, while the internal exile order was overturned.

Fallahi was arrested on Sunday, January 11, 2026, during the protests. After spending more than two months in detention, he was released on bail on March 14, 2026, pending the conclusion of judicial proceedings.

During his detention, Fallahi spent 31 days at the Parsilon detention facility in Khorramabad before being transferred to Khorramabad Central Prison, where he remained until his release. Throughout his detention, he was denied access to legal counsel and family visits.
