Naeim Lashkari sentenced to five years in prison over January protests

Iranian authorities have sentenced Naeim Lashkari, a 25-year-old prisoner from Bijar held at Greater Tehran Penitentiary, to five years in prison over his participation in the January protests.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Branch 28 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Amouzad, convicted Lashkari of "assembly and collusion to commit crimes against national security" and sentenced him to five years in prison.

Iranian security forces arrested Lashkari in Tehran on January 3, 2026, while he was visiting the capital on a short trip. He has remained in Greater Tehran Penitentiary since his arrest.

Lashkari was previously sentenced to four years in prison in 2025 on the charge of "insulting Islamic sanctities." He was released after serving eight months.

He had also been arrested on April 11, 2023, after Iranian security forces accused him of posting an Instagram story. During that detention, he was subjected to severe torture, suffering fractures and other injuries that required his transfer to Imam Hossein Hospital in Bijar.

Lashkari was previously arrested on October 27, 2022, during the Woman, Life, Freedom (Jin, Jiyan, Azadi) movement.
