Three prisoners, including a woman, executed in Qazvin and Zanjan prisons

The Iranian authorities have executed three prisoners, including a woman, identified as Mohsen Barzegar, Roya Abbaszadeh, and Khosro Moradlou, in the prisons of Qazvin and Zanjan, following convictions on charges of “murder” and “drug-related offences.”

According to information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the execution of Mohsen Barzegar was carried out at dawn on Sunday, October 5, 2025, in Qazvin Prison. Barzegar had been sentenced to death on charges of “drug-related offences.”

Earlier, on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, Khosro Moradlou, a 27-year-old Turkish man from Zanjan and father of one, was executed in Zanjan Central Prison. He had been arrested nearly three years earlier on charges of “drug-related offences” and later sentenced to death by the Judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

In a separate case, on Tuesday, September 24, 2025, Roya Abbaszadeh, a 25-year-old Turkish woman from Zanjan, was executed in Zanjan Central Prison after being convicted on charges of “murder” for killing her fiancé. She had been detained four years earlier and sentenced to death following judicial proceedings that lacked transparency and fair-trial guarantees.

The executions have not been announced by state media, including outlets affiliated with the Iranian Judiciary.
