Five prisoners, including an Afghan national, executed in three Iranian prisons

The death sentences of five prisoners, including an Afghan national, were carried out in three prisons across Iran. The individuals were identified as Esmail Roshani, Ali Akbar Hasani, Rahman Kahzadi, Ebrahim Azizi, and one Afghan national whose identity remains under verification. They had all been convicted on charges of “premeditated murder” or “drug-related offenses.”

According to information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Esmail Roshani, who had been sentenced to death on “drug-related charges,” was executed at dawn in Kashan Prison, located in Isfahan Province, on Sunday, October 12.

The executions of Ali Akbar Hasani, 30, and Rahman Kahzadi, both of Turkish origin from Zanjan, were also carried out at dawn in Zanjan Central Prison on Saturday, October 11. Hasani had been convicted of “premeditated murder” following a workplace dispute three years ago, while Kahzadi had also been sentenced to death on a “murder” charge.

In another case, Ebrahim Azizi and an Afghan national whose identity has not yet been confirmed were executed at dawn in Bojnurd Prison, North Khorasan Province, on Tuesday, October 7. According to informed sources, both men had been arrested in a joint case on “drug-related charges” and later sentenced to death by the Iranian judiciary.

State media, including outlets affiliated with the judiciary, have not yet reported these executions.
