Iran executes ten prisoners in multiple prisons across the country

The death sentences of ten prisoners, including one Afghan national, have been carried out in the prisons of Malayer, Mashhad, Taybad, Zanjan, Sari, Borazjan and Khorramabad.
The prisoners were identified as Javad Afagh, Ghafoor Behboudi, Abdolsalam Mir Panjshir, Amir Mirabadi, Gholamreza Hariri, Nemat Khodabakhsh, Ahmad Amoudi, Farhad Sepehvand and Mirza Vali Sotoudeh. The identity of the tenth prisoner is still under review. All had been sentenced to death by the Iranian judiciary on charges of premeditated murder or drug-related offences.
According to information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the execution of a prisoner from Malayer, approximately 56 years old, was carried out at dawn on Saturday, September 20, 2025, in Malayer Prison, Hamadan Province. His identity remains under investigation. He was arrested two years ago on charges of killing Brigadier General Mahmoud Khodadad during an attempted arrest and was later sentenced to death. Reports state that during a family dispute he shot and killed his 22-year-old son, wounded another son aged 32, and attempted to kill his wife before security forces intervened.
Elsewhere, at dawn on Thursday, September 18, 2025, Javad Afagh, 36, from the village of Khalaqabad in Razavi Khorasan Province, was executed in Mashhad’s Vakilabad Prison. He had been arrested four years earlier on drug-related charges and sentenced to death.
On Wednesday morning, September 17, 2025, two prisoners — Ghafoor Behboudi, 37, from Kheirabad village in Taybad, and Abdolsalam Mir Panjshir, about 30, an Afghan national — were executed in Taybad Central Prison, Razavi Khorasan Province. According to Iran Human Rights, Behboudi had been in detention for four years and Mir Panjshir for two, both on drug-related charges.
That same day, Amir Mirabadi, 42, a Turkish prisoner from Zanjan, was executed in Zanjan Central Prison. He was arrested four years ago for transporting 70 kilograms of methamphetamine and later sentenced to death.
In a related case, at dawn on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, two Gilak prisoners — Gholamreza Hariri, 40, from Sari, and Nemat Khodabakhsh, 42, from Amol, a father of three (one of whom has a disability) — were executed in Sari Central Prison. Hariri had been detained for three years and eight months, and Khodabakhsh for about five years, both on drug-related charges.
At dawn on Monday, September 15, 2025, Ahmad Amoudi was executed in Borazjan Central Prison on a charge of premeditated murder.
Continuing this trend, at dawn on Sunday, September 14, 2025, two Lor prisoners from Khorramabad — Farhad Sepehvand, 32, and Mirza Vali Sotoudeh, 38 — were executed in Khorramabad Central Prison. Sepehvand had been detained for 11 years on drug-related charges, while Sotoudeh had been held for six years on charges of premeditated murder.
As of publication, none of these executions had been reported by state-run media, including judiciary-affiliated outlets.
