Hengaw — Wednesday, November 19, 2025

Amir Nisi, an Arab religious prisoner from Ahvaz held in Sheiban Prison, has died after authorities denied him essential medical treatment.

Based on information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Nisi, 27, was imprisoned in Ward 8 of Sheiban Prison and suffered from a severe, body-wide infection. His condition deteriorated sharply in the days leading up to his death on Tuesday night, November 18, 2025, while prison officials repeatedly refused to transfer him to medical facilities.

The Karun Human Rights Organization, which documents violations against Arab citizens in Iran, states that Nisi had endured untreated illness and a progressing infection for an extended period. Despite clear signs of critical deterioration, officials withheld necessary treatment and prevented timely medical transfer.

The death of Nisi reflects a persistent pattern in Iranian prisons, where religious and political prisoners face systematic denial of medical care. This ongoing neglect highlights widespread human-rights violations committed by the Islamic Republic of Iran.
