Afsaneh Tavana, a political prisoner held in the women's ward of Evin Prison, continues to serve a two-year sentence nearly a year after her arrest by Iranian security forces.

According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Tavana was arrested by security forces in August 2025 and initially transferred to Ward 1-A, the detention facility operated by the IRGC's Tharallah Headquarters, where she was subjected to interrogation.

After the completion of preliminary judicial proceedings, she was transferred to the women's ward of Evin Prison on August 19, 2025.

Tavana was later tried by a branch of the Tehran Revolutionary Court and sentenced to two years of discretionary imprisonment on charges of “propaganda activity in favor of groups opposed to the state.”
