Ehsan Qaderi, a political activist and former political prisoner based in Tehran, has been sentenced to one year of discretionary imprisonment by the Islamic Republic of Iran's judiciary.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Branch 7 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court sentenced Qaderi to one year in prison on the charge of "propaganda against the state." The verdict was issued on July 12, 2026, and was formally served on him in recent days.

Qaderi was arrested on April 2, 2026, while passing through a checkpoint on Fadaiyan-e Eslam Street in Tehran. Hengaw has learned that government forces severely beat him during the arrest, searched him, seized his personal belongings, and transferred him to Ward 6 of Greater Tehran Penitentiary (Fashafouyeh Prison). After nearly three weeks in detention without contact with his family, he was temporarily released on bail on April 25, 2026, pending the conclusion of judicial proceedings.

Qaderi had previously been arrested for his political activities. After serving a one-year prison sentence in Evin Prison, he was released upon completing his sentence in September 2024.
