Hengaw – Saturday, November 22, 2025

Nesa Rastgoo, an 18-year-old girl and victim of child marriage in Urmia, was killed by her husband with a bladed weapon in what sources describe as a case related to “family disputes.”

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the incident occurred on Friday, November 21, 2025, when Rastgoo was fatally stabbed multiple times by her husband.

Sources told Hengaw that Rastgoo had been forced into marriage as a minor only eight months ago.

The killing of Nesa Rastgoo is a clear case of femicide and underscores the severe risks faced by girls and women subjected to child marriage and systemic gender-based violence in Iran. These patterns are reinforced by discriminatory laws and the absence of effective legal protections, leaving countless women and girls vulnerable to violence.
