15-year-old Roshna Nouri shot dead by half-brother in Sanandaj
Hengaw – Sunday, July 26, 2026
15-year-old Roshna Nouri was shot and killed by her half-brother in a village near Sanandaj (Sine).
According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Roshna Nouri was killed on the afternoon of July 25, 2026, in the village of Sar Huyeh, near Sanandaj, after her half-brother opened fire on her with a firearm.
Sources familiar with the case said the assailant shot Nouri in the neck, killing her instantly. Her father has two wives, and Nouri and the perpetrator are children of different mothers.
Preliminary reports indicate that the killing stemmed from a family dispute.
Weak legal protections against femicide and so-called family killings, easy access to firearms, and the lack of effective criminal accountability for such crimes have contributed to the continued rise in the number of women and children killed in Iran.
