Younes Sagvand sentenced to prison and fine in Lorestan

Younes Sagvand (Gholi-Kiani), a Lor man from Sepiddasht in Lorestan Province, has been sentenced by the Iranian judiciary to ten months in prison and a monetary fine.
Based on information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Sagvand, a master’s student in electrical engineering and an employee of the national railway company, was recently sentenced by Branch One of the Sepiddasht Revolutionary Court to ten months in prison on the charge of “propaganda against the state” over his online activity.
According to the ruling, the court also imposed a financial penalty in addition to the prison sentence.
Sagvand had previously faced charges of “propaganda against the government” for posting critical content on social media.
He was arrested on Saturday, February 22, 2025, during a raid by IRGC Intelligence forces. Sagvand was transferred to Khorramabad Central Prison (Parsilon Prison) and released several days later on temporary bail pending the completion of judicial proceedings.
