Morteza (Calvin) Faqanpour-Sasi, a Christian convert from Varamin, has been arrested and transferred to Evin Prison to serve an eight-year and eleven-month sentence.
According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, security authorities detained Faqanpour-Sasi after summoning him to the Enforcement of Judgments Office in Varamin. The arrest and transfer were carried out on Monday, 3 November 2025.
Faqanpour-Sasi was previously sentenced by Branch One of the Revolutionary Court in Varamin, presided over by Judge Ashkan Ramesh, to seven years and six months in prison on the charge of “educational and proselytising activities contrary to Islam,” and a further seventeen months for “insulting Khamenei.”
He was first arrested on 12 June 2024 by security forces and taken to Evin Prison, where authorities also confiscated several personal belongings, including books and his mobile phone.
Unable to post the 2-billion-toman bail set by the authorities, Faqanpour-Sasi remained in detention for four months before being temporarily released pending the outcome of his trial.
